Don't worry if your keyboard is acting up! Some Android devices can make it a little tricky to switch between the device’s native keyboard and third-party keyboards like Boards. We have a simple solution to ensure you can easily access your content system at all times!
This article addresses the issue where the Boards Keyboard is not appearing or is difficult to switch to.
Recommended Solution: Use Gboard (by Google)
To ensure a smooth experience when switching between your regular typing and your Boards Keyboard, we recommend installing the Gboard Keyboard (by Google) and setting it as your primary keyboard.
This allows you to easily toggle between Gboard (for typing) and Boards (for sharing) within your messaging apps.
How to Set Up Gboard to Enable Easy Switching
Follow these steps after you have downloaded and installed Gboard from the Play Store:
- Go to Settings: Open Settings on your phone.
- Find Input Settings: Tap Additional settings (this may vary by device) and then press Languages and input.
- Manage Keyboards: Tap Manage keyboards.
- Select Gboard: Ensure Gboard is selected and active.
- Add a Language: Tap Languages.
- Add a Second Language: Select Add Keyboard. Choose any secondary language (different from the one you are currently using). This step helps ensure the switching mechanism works reliably.
- Tap Done.
Switching Between Keyboards After Setup
Once Gboard is set up, you should be able to switch easily:
- You will be able to easily switch between the Gboard and Boards keyboards by tapping on the "keyboards key" that will appear at the bottom of your keyboard.
If the key doesn't appear: Tap and hold the Globe icon (🌐), Microphone (🎙️) or the Space-bar, and then select the Boards Keyboard from the menu that pops up.
Note for Android Users: If you see the mic icon on the bottom left, press and hold it, then select “Input Method.”
A small keyboard icon will appear. Tap it, and you can switch to the Boards Keyboard.
